The internet is NOT multimedia. The internet is TEXT. Email is TEXT. Chat is TEXT. Search engines are TEXT. Forums are TEXT. The internet is all about READING. We read at incredible speeds compared to what we can hear on TV or radio. Reading is a much more efficient way for humans to obtain data quickly. Corporate america and adveritising firms still have THEIR HEADS UP THEIR ASS. Banners are big and bulky and ugly and make people mad. Remember two weeks ago when I had that bottom ad in the newsletter where I ask readers to click on the counter...and I asked 6 times? Was anyone offended with all those links? Now what if I had hit you with 6 banners? Holy Cow!!! Call the cops! Text links are awesome! They offend NO ONE, you can use hundreds of them on a page, and they use little or NO bandwidth. I can here you doubting Thomases :) I am surprise more affiliate programs have not worked on text links. I can't think of any that say "we tested these 50 text ads and these three click ass...paste these on your TGPs." Does anyone do that? I can't think of any. With 50% sales and $35 per signup etc, these types of ads SHOULD be offered. Text ads got a bad name back when we were getting paid for clicks. TIPS - if you have an affiliate program...here is a rare chance for you to knock the ball out of the park. Spend time writing and testing text based ads and then provide these ads to webmasters AND show the webmasters the STATS on them. I knw you don't believe me. I can here you sipping 3 sips of that scotch on the rocks ROFL. I wouldn't be flapping my lips off unless I had some kind of display to SHOCK you with as I like to try and occasionally do =D I can't reveal all my secrets but I will tell you this....I love gambling on Google AdWords. It is a pure advertising play. You buy ads, you spend money, and the goal is to make more than you spend. The beauty of google ad words is that the ads are PURE TEXT CLICKS and there are no banners. Here is a screen cap of 10 ad campaigns I have running with todays stats. Some of these numbers are too low to be statistically significant, but they still are pretty eye opening: http://trix.sexswap.com/gifs/clickrates.gif That is a freaking AVERAGE of a 4.7% click rate on 9000 showings. Where in the HELL are you going to find a banner that even pulls 2% today? Where in the hell are you going to find a banner that even pulls 1%???? And these percents are on huge word lists of 1000+ words...not pure targeted words. Now I don't always do that well, but I am generally 1.5%-2.5% TRY TEXT ADS on your sites and pages. You will be pleased.
